Where AcroYoga and Dance meets through creativity and play

AcroYoga Collective is a London + Brighton based AcroYoga Partnership working creatively with the strength of acrobatics, the holistic nature of yoga and the dynamism of dance. AcroYoga Collective was founded in 2020 by AcroYoga Teachers and Dance Artists, Rob Keates & Julie Havelund, who continue to run the company across London, Sussex and beyond.

AcroYoga is a physical, contact-based practice carried out between two or more people, originating in the 90’s. It is a fusion of acrobatics and yoga, and also draws on thai massage and circus arts.  The AcroYoga Collective approach to AcroYoga is rooted in our joint background in contemporary dance and contact improvisation. This fusion practice encourages playfulness, communication and creative expression in people’s lives through inspiring programmes of our practice of AcroYoga and dance combined.

Rob trained at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance for both his BA Honours and Masters. Rob has had an exciting and fulfilled freelance life over the past 10 years and has worked with a variety of companies exploring different realms in the dance world, nationally and internationally. Alongside his performance work Rob has been teaching and with many other various schools, colleges, and universities nationally and internationally.

Julie is a Scandinavian Dance Artist, AcroYoga, Aerial- and Yoga Teacher. Her work spans across 10 years of performance, choreography, music video and video art, producing, dramaturgy, teaching and research. Julie is a versatile practitioner, and holds a diverse range of training, including a 1st Class BA in Dance & Culture, 1st Class MA in Nordic Dance Studies, diploma in aerial circus arts, and over 500 hours of Yoga Teacher Training. She is continuously evolving her movement and performance practice, and research into new ways of merging her expertise within contemporary dance, physical theatre, aerial circus, somatic practices and AcroYoga.
